Second week seti's gone down this early , must be a new Uni policy i recon , " seti@home staff MUST have a Vindaloo Monday evening so you're up before dawn on Tuesday " think my Aunt / Unc are 7 hrs behind us ( uk) so Berkely mest be least another hour behind em . Hope they've had their 1st cup of coffee before they start , or maybe they "take it down" remotly so Dr Korpela's sittin at home with his dressin gown , slippers on and presses a button . If they are physicaly at the lab hopes they get " overtime " this early in their day , but doubt it ( know the servers are at the colo now just saying before someone starts ;-) )

There's one fewer time zone between America and Europe this week (and next week), because of different policies about the starting dates of what we call "summer time". I do wonder, however, how much 'daylight' there is to save on the east coast of the United States today. ;)

Remember DST is now in effect across most states so Berkeley is UTC-7

Well it was 6 am here when I check, which means it was 4 am in Berkeley when it went down. So they really are starting very early these days.

Are you sure? It's 05:50 in Berkeley now, and maintenance only started 40 minutes ago.

I woke up at 6:30 am and hit the refresh on the web browser to reload all the pages and it was already saying it was down. So that is why I came over here. It's 7:54 in the central zone.

Time " is relative" a certain person said E=mc2 etc ;-) , whatever the time difference is 05.50 still the " middle of the night" to many people whatever country who are in ;-). I recon it's just proof of my therory " they have a Vindaloo Monday night " ;-) hehe

We either accpet that, moan about it, or move on.

What's the point in moaning or getting stressed out about something none of us have any control over , things change , life goes on , Least we all know what happens every tuesday even if we ain't been told why that is , probably to busy doing their work and living their lives :-)
Still recon my " Vindaloo " theory "fits" perfectly would explain why it's no longer 4 /5 hours , ain't you ever had the " full efects" the day after , they've added in " recovery time" ;-)

From what I can recall from my visit to San Fran, Oakland, and Berkeley, not many Indian take aways there.

Ok then i will modify my therory , instead of " Vindaloo" hows about " Mexican" Anchilarda's and Halipeneo chilly's can cause the same or more violent after efects , defo don't want to have been eating peanuts afterwars or otherwise you're in danger of seriously crackin the porcelein ;-)

( toilet humour i knows and on more than one level ;-) )

3 pint's not a problem mate but i'm a lager drinker ( stella artrois 4 me , Calsberg , Fosters p#ss water before you drink the stuff ;-) ) had you down for bitter or maybe even a pint of mild ;-)

When I was serving in Germany in the 60's we wouldn't touch that stuff with your barge pole unless it was absolutely 100% the only drink on offer. Unless of course if the other drink was Budweiser or some similar US tasteless beverage.

Best of what's on offer in the pubs around where i live it's a " aquired taste " for sure

Unless of course if the other drink was Budweiser or some similar US tasteless beverage.

Yep that's just overpriced and it's in the same catagory as Fosters , Carlsberg etc , chemical crap stuff . Did used to drink Bud up RAF Bentwaters bowling ally when the "twins" were operational , ( only stuff on sale in the ally ) never got drunk on the stuff but talk about a hangover the next morning . Same as their mustard it's yellow sauce , you CAN'T beet COLEMANS Mustard :-) ( even if it's from Norfolk where they crunch turnips ;-) )
