It's nearly midday noon in Berkeley, so one presumes that at some point we will have an outrage? Unless there is a more serious problem we don't yet know about??

'Usually', serious problems cause outages, not prevent them....LOL.

Actually it's about 11 AM PDT on the left coast and the SSP shows a very small growth in APs ready to send but nothing being split. The world as we know it is changing?

Well, I am off to work now, so the kitties shall have to mind the farm whilst I am gone.
And I shall have to trust that the boyz in da lab have things under control.

Meow for now.

Semi strange. Did we ever go down? My caches are staying full, and SSP looks normal ...

Well if it did go down, surprised it's back up this early.

It's late enough in the day that if they have the outrage today it probably wouldn't be done by the end of the workday.

Perhaps with what they had to do over the weekend, nothing further is required today?

So did it go down or not? I gave up and went to bed. Is there a case for a monthly outrage of 2 days rather then a weekly one for 4 hours???

Hey, Chris. Never saw it go down, and I was here most of the day.

There were traces left behind - splitters working on tapes in a different sequence - suggesting that the project was restarted, implying it was stopped first. No idea how long for - I missed it too.

The automated notice (midnight Berkeley time) has just gone up announcing a full maintenance for today, Wednesday 31 August. Next week is Labor day, so I wouldn't be surprised by a Wednesday outage next week too. After that - watch the front page.

Message 72021 - Posted: 31 Aug 2016, 7:50:32 UTC - in response to Message 72020.

Every Wednesday morning (Pacific time) we begin a four hour data distribution outage for database and systems maintenance.

I do wish at times that Berkeley would just say the truth. We DON'T have an outrage every Wednesday, it is usually every Tuesday. I would guess that nobody was around yesterday to oversee it so it's been put off until today.

Q. How many other Boinc projects disappear for 4 hours each week?

A. ???

May be their subtle way of announcing they're bumping it back a day forever ...

Nah - they don't tell us anything, they'll have a script for that:

"Every %Today% morning we begin a four hour data distribution outage for database and systems maintenance."

Seriously - they are so short-staffed that they will have automated everything it's possible to automate.
