Wow. Over 9 hours. Well, I agree. The SSP working is a good sign.

Yes an updating status page is an improvement.

Just wish we had some indication of an ETA.

Well, Seti is not the most important thing in my life by a long chalk. I have friends and family that mean considerably more to me. I'll have a well deserved early night.

That is exactly correct. I was composing a long 45 minute PM to a very good friend who is going through some very hard times in their family at the moment, and I was offering as much support as I could. I hit the send button, only to get a no-go. Perhaps it was my fault for not composing it in Word and saving it first.

Don't know about your preferred browser, but in mine if I immediately hit the back button I get the compose window back with the message. Simple to select it, copy and paste into any word processing program and hit save and wait for the project to come back.

I was about to say this, but you got it covered.

..now back to writing my 10 page essay for college that will probably take more than 45 mins if I'm doing it right.

I guess this is a well-known fact already, but resent events gives yet another example that the harder you try, the harder you are supposed to fall when it first happens.

I blew a long PrimeGrid task because I left the PC in a room that became too hot. Right now, I am really having some regrets about what happened here.

Being part of a distributed project makes such things having a possible impact for others as well, including possibly both users as well as specific parts related to a project as a whole.

At least it may end up to be so when it comes to the results of the tasks and at which time they are supposed to be completed and finished.

:( my commiserations speedman. Very sorry to hear that :( I had one horrible overheating crash which changed the way I crunch and the projects I crunch for. Haven't plucked up the courage to change back... yet. Wishing you all the best. :)

@ES - hope the essay is going well :)

Oh, I agree - in fact, I'd say it was almost exclusively a political (or governance, to avoid party-politics labels) problem.

And I get the feeling that those who self-select to put themselves forward for election are far more interested in being "in Government", than they are in doing any actual governing for the common good.

Ummmm, I can reply if Jord is happy.

Today Jord is not happy. But don't let my state of mind deter you from doing what you feel needs doing, ever. Continue as you were, I am off again to the library looking for books for my mom.

Scott, I'm shocked at you. It is a bad day for America (and Illinois).

That is all I will say in a forum not designated for politics.

I wholeheartedly disagree David. The people voted, their voices were heard, and this is a complete referendum on what's been happening for the last six years.

Now it's up to the Republicans to actually do something in the next two years. Otherwise we will have more of the same. I'm hopeful that our country will finally turn the corner and regain its strength and standing in the world.

That's all I have to say. :-)

That is why I ran my reply past Jord, giving him the option to hide it.

And that's why I won't say anything else on the subject, here at any rate. Sorry about bringing it up.

Okay, it would seem that you prefer me to put some ground rules down over what you can talk about in this thread/forum. There are no rules. If you want to have a conversation about (the following lines are my own opinion, I do not want to force them upon anyone) how stupid it is for America to shoot themselves in their collective feet by voting almost solely for those lying cheating Republicans, then go ahead, be my guest. Or if you want to rejoice about that fact, also fine.

That Jord isn't happy is not due to anything happening here on the forums, no need to appease me. Jord's not happy because both his feet now have plantar fasciitis and it's now hurting almost all hours of the day, with not much let off.

My wife has had those issues. My wife is a heavy girl so losing weight helped. Also she got some custom-made shoe implants that have helped a ton.

Good luck on that

What I find strange is that the current political situation in the US has been discussed here and in the Cafe at SETI, yet not in the one place intended for political discussions, very odd.
