Wow, fourth one this week. But I hope they are trying to properly fix the download servers this time.

Cos the guessing is way more fun? Why not?

Edit: not that I think they can, it feels as if the BOINC database did a hard shutdown.

Can't win for losing, not only is SETI down but it seems that the Milkyway site is down also. Is something contagious going around?

Just make sure blinkers are worn on Monday as the bitching on the panic thread is going to be awesome. :-)

This is interesting. I suspected something of this sort may be possible considering how many computers are listed as having dozens more GPUs than actual.
Be nice to know what they find when the postmortem is finished, hopefully the resurrection won't take too long.

I hadn't realised it was so long since I last popped in, nor quite how much had been happening (or perhaps, hadn't been).

Oh my. Poor seti :( Still, it's nice to see everyone here :)

from this:
I see Seti has a new wall-of-text-writer to give Annie a lesson in how it's done. :-)
Well I've clearly arrived at the right time then because I see nothing for me to worry about ;) not yet anyway...

There is a difference, Annie is stream of consciousness walls, the other seems to have been edited to increase length walls.
...edited to increase length...? *round eyes* what an excellent idea! We've never properly done that, have we anniet? No we haven't anniet... not yet anyway...

I suppose in the circumstances, people might need some suggestions on how to keep themselves occupied... let me see, this might be fun ...? ;)

With the authority invested in me I am promoting the system failure to super grand mal outrage status unless some one objects.

And to make it all better, Einstein isn't splitting any GPU work right now either.
Anybody got recs for a backup project for the backup project?

On the up side, we don't have to keep clicking Retry to get tasks now ...

I like crunching for GPUGrid.https://www.gpugrid.net
One benefit is the data goes very quickly from being analyzed to being published and possibly discovering new drugs for disease treatments.
