Ah, thank you. Time to wind the clock. It had gained about one and a quarter seconds when I checked this morning.

Gravity must be increasing!

No, it's because of the Sudden Stratospheric Warming happening over the North Pole, I may want to keep an eye on things with regards to my vacation.

Light has been bent and global warming is going to blast Europe with a cold snap, science has been discussed in this thread. Time is not being wasted in today's outage.

Just popping in to say Hi. Looks like the shutdown got an early (California time) start today. I'll check back later if it is an outrage. Anything is a good distraction from the news these days. UG!

I haven't searched the thread for it, but the front page said the outage would be longer
as they are defragmenting the database.

Since an outrage has been officially declared it's time to start a party. I'll buy the first round of drinks.

I used to like watching the colorful progress indicator on the older versions of Defrag.

7 hours now. I'm eating pie leftovers for lunch, so I'm not ready for a drink yet, but I would like to propose a toast to the hard working tech people who keep all this stuff running. Programs, data, databases and communication boards.

They haven't said which database - of three.

They'd hardly bother with an announcement for Astropulse Science - they could just hold the tapes and assimilators for a day or two while we carried on working.
I'd always assumed defrag happened automatically on the BOINC database every week.
Which leaves SaH science - and I'd be surprised if they could do that in mere hours. Time for me to head out for some party juice, methinks.

Since this is a fraggin' outrage, we may all be having a party 'till the sun come up on a sleepy little town down around Castro Valley.

I'm ready for a drink now. Maybe some sangria to start with for now, and then I'll rummage around the bar to see what I want next.

Decent hand-pulled and locally brewed ale did it for me. But I've got a bottle of malt whisky handy in case anybody posts anything as stupid as #2954 again.

The defrag seems to have helped. The forums seem snappier.
