Well it's past noon o'clock on the upper left coast so I think it's time to start the party, even the mods are invited and since it is the holiday season I'll buy the first round. |

Not sure if the Minions are the best way to start a party. Even contemplating if that isn't a banishable offense. Think of the geriatrics, please! |

Lutefisk or lutfisk is a traditional dish of some Nordic countries. It is traditionally part of the Norwegian julebord and Swedish julbord, as well as the similar Finnish joulupöytä. It is made from aged stockfish or dried/salted whitefish and lye. It is gelatinous in texture. Its name literally means "lye fish" And you think that's better? :p |

Lutefisk is DELICIOUS! Well he could of offered some Surströmming to us instead. ... a lightly-salted fermented Baltic Sea herring. The Baltic herring, known as strömming in Swedish, is smaller than the Atlantic herring, found in the North Sea. Traditionally, the definition of strömming is "herring fished in the brackish waters of the Baltic north of the Kalmar Strait". Wikipedia |

I like a good reuben. Isn't kimchi sort of like Korean sauerkraut? The mind is a weird and mysterious place |

Hold on tight. Scheduler is down, but the boards are still running - as rough as a boulder field. Summat's up. |

Summat's up.Well one of my doors isn't *scowl* it just fell on me :\ which was a bit ouch and a lot unexpected. I've sort of left it where it is because no one else is home and it's kind of heavy. Probably because it's one of those ones that are supposed to be useful during a fire. Fat lot of good it would be if there was, which I'm glad to say there isn't :) Hello Richad... hold on, I'll try that again... hello Richard :) Happy new year! edit: I noticed beta's boards were down a bit ago. I'll go and watch seti's now - see if/when they go down And now beta's are back so feel free to ignore this edit everyone. I'm going to :) |

Not much of a boot type, I don't like the high back, gives me blisters. But I'll be looking into some sturdy hiking shoes before March and walk them in.Got myself some sturdy hikers. Waterproof. Low sides for my ankles to breathe. The boots I tried made my feet sweat within two minutes, not a wise choice. Will walk these shoes in for the next two months. They fit and sit nicely. |

Grumble, grumble. I've been given this lovely clock: Proper Victorian mechanical engineering, about 150 years old. Runs perfectly, but needs winding every seven (or at a pinch, eight) days. I usually maintain it on maintenance day. Which yesterday wasn't... And I wound it a bit early last Tuesday, because there were other things happening. So it stopped. And it stopped with the minute hand blocking the winding keyhole. So I had to move it out of the way. And now it doesn't line up at the top of the minute*. And now I'll have to stop it on a good timing mark, and start it again 10 hours and 48 minutes later. Modern kids with their GPS synchronised smart phones just don't know what time means. * The dial is a full 12" (30 cm) across, so you can actually see the minute hand move at each 1-second tick or tock. Alignment matters! |

That's a beautiful clock, Richard. Here's a nice horology article - https://www.newyorker.com/magazine/2017/03/20/confessions-of-a-watch-geek The mind is a weird and mysterious place |

That's a beautiful clock, Richard. It's even more impressive internally, though hard to photograph without moving and dismantling. A very simple mechanism, but the precision of the machining is breathtaking. |
