I haven't got new WUs since it's been back... Just started really flowing in the last 15 minutes or so, at least on 3 of 4 crunchers here. |

Given that this sort of pattern is "the norm" these days I think it may actually be an automated process - once the manual stuff has been done a cron job takes over and the databases and servers gradually come back to life in the correct sequence. Why sit in an empty lab (or wind up the ones other half by playing with your laptop) while watching for a massive task to complete so you can start the next when the computer can do it for you? |

Because a vaillant scientist burning the midnight oil alone in his lab in the dead of the night, using headphones to listen to raw radiotelescope data and using a quill to write grant requests is more romantic, that's why ! What are you really trying to do, Rob ? Are you attempting to sell us the magic of reality ?Someone has been burning the midnight oil at Berkeley =:)Given that this sort of pattern is "the norm" these days I think it may actually be an automated process - once the manual stuff has been done a cron job takes over and the databases and servers gradually come back to life in the correct sequence. Jokes aside, thanks for your rectification; illuminating as always. |

Just moved my computer out of the computer room and while cleaning stuff up before the move I found a non-descript box. Upon opening I was staring at eight Windows for Workstations v3.11 3.5 inch floppy disks. Anyone interested? :-) |

Checking in. The Seti system ran so well over the holidays that I'm hoping today will be a normal outage. I'm also thinking I'll stick to my regular coffee...the kind that doesn't kill me. |
