Eric has been away from Berkeley for the last week, on vacation with Angela. His only contact is via a mobile phone - I doubt he'd want to try and restart the system using that, even if it was technically possible.

SETI will be in the capable hands of Jeff this weekend, if anyone.

The only problem with leaving the boards down ...

And there was me thinking it was social media like fb etc , ;-) ( AM BEING VERY SARCASTIC THERE ) but are loads of people who " use" it for that purpoise and not much else ( crunch enough to post etc ) , ain't going to say no names coz they will throw a little tantrum :-) ( but some even said that on the boards !! )

Would either of you two Gentlemen like to give me one single piece of sensible evidence why a scientific project like Seti needs to have a politics thread? And specifically bearing in mind the cess pit that is the one at Seti.

I'd guess because it keeps the cess in the pit rather than polluting the rest of the forum, so inflammatory stuff isn't causing grief in the Cafe or other more pleasant and relaxed places.

I would suggest that poster is as unwelcome here as he is in Seti.

Whether he is or isn't, he has the same rights as you so deal with it.

If you don't like it, the door is always open for you.

I think the Seti forums just went down again, getting time outs on loading pages. Reporting & downloading of work still works, though.
