On to a happier subject.
Project is down

The project's database server is down. Please check back in a few hours.

Do I have to personally buy a new server to stop this BS?
Geez.
Google, youtube, and other sites can stay online 24/7 for years.
I know they have more money./
This is getting nothing short of nonsensical.
And the project deserves better than than.
Do we need a backup server? A mirror server,

Gimme an answer, Eric, and we can proceed to a better situation than this.

+1,
Here on the upper left coast it is much too early in the day to catch a buzz.

Even the weekly outage would not be necessary if backups could be done 'on the fly'...........
And they CAN be, with the proper hardware in place.
I am getting tired of these shenanigans.
Tell me what you require to be done with it, and I shall attempt to supply it, for Chrissake.
I want the project to be able to be up 24/7 like most any other site I know of.

Others, please tell me, do other Boinc projects do this every week?
Since I only do Seti, I really do not know.
Is Seti the only one with these outages?????????
If not, I shall shut my hole.

At least the message is different. Not the 'normal' blue back that loads with non-working links, but just a message that things are down.

At least now the SSP page is on again. Few minutes ago when I checked was down with the message.
Forum are still down though and, more importantly, the Master Database is down.

When I checked the SSP about 10 minutes ago, there was an error about a variable expecting a double, string, so there were no numbers or stats for anything on the rest of the page, and almost every single process was set to disabled.

And then, of course, I went and replied to a thread, and went to hit post reply, and got "server is down for maintenance." Hit the 'back' button.. and was able to recover what all I typed. Phew. I'll just leave that tab open for a bit until things come back.

[edit: Looks like the SSP is still in the same situation.]

I just Reloaded the SETI@Home Forum, and it came up fine for me.

Einstein@Home; however, is giving me a 503 Error, now... 😢

OK - Here's a weird one...

COULDN'T get into these boards for the past three to three and a half hours! Found that I had to add "https://" to each open URL that I have. (Two URL's open for this site; the main Forum, and my PM Inbox.) WITHOUT the "https://", I COULD NOT get the Forum, nor Inbox to Reload/Refresh; just got the gray spinning wheel... No Error, even... Just a spinning wheel. 🙀

Now that I found I MUST have "https://" in the URL, everything is fine. 😃

Wonder who broke the internet this time?

I had actually gotten some partial page loads with http and even got the "the project is down" message. Wonder if they are being DDOS'd? I also read some stuff on the Berkeley IST status page about some DNS issues at the campus that was supposed to be resolved. Perhaps they were still tweaking and fouled it up?

IIRC Jord had mentioned this happened once some time ago. Whatever the fix was got broken again.

HTTP connections are available again and the certificate for HTTPS connections is still the old insecure one. Wonder what happened there.

Edit: the 'project is down' messages we get are from slow web access problems that the server is going through.

HTTPS changes haven't happened yet and won't happen until Berkeley allows it.
