13 hours, 15 minutes. Still updating. Now waiting for the next batch of 14 plus 2 to come in and be installed.

Edit: 13 hours, 30 minutes. Two more then.
Edit2: Total time, 13 hours, 38 minutes.

Right-click context menu is still broken, so I still cannot use Tortoisegit to update the BOINC source code. :(

Edit3: One extremely positive point was that I didn't have to uninstall and reinstall my AMD videocard drivers. Whereas the previous CCC depended heavily on dotNet, Crimson does not. So Windows could easily install itself, and copy over the Crimson program and settings, without me being required to install some version of dotNet first.

Not that at the end of the day, after at least 25 reboots, that one extra reboot would've mattered. ;-)

Saw him live at the Wimbledon theatre in South London many years ago. Just wish his private life was a bit more upmarket.

Yeah, his personal life has been somewhat of a train wreck. I do still appreciate his innate talents, however.

A little warning for all you who use Firefox or Chrome and have an SSD: these browsers write their save-state to disk every 10 seconds or less, to be able to restore all tabs in case of a crash. But this generates a data write stream of 10GB (Firefox) to 24GB (Chrome) of data per day, that can shorten the life-span of your SSD drive enormously (especially for older SSDs).

In the case of Firefox you can change this.
In the URL bar, type about:config and hit Enter.
Acknowledge that you want to go there.
Next, search for browser.sessionstore.interval, which is default set to 15000 milliseconds, or 15 seconds. You may want to increase this value, say to half an hour (1800000) or an hour (3600000). By setting the value to half an hour, one of the people who discovered this, got his data stream down to 2GB a day.

You can also turn off the Session Restore Manager (either in Firefox, or in Tab Mix Plus, or any other tab manager you use).

If you have an HDD, it isn't bad to change this value either. Your HDD has wear and tear as well.

They are the other end of the county on Cambridge / Suffolk boarder in't they ?
RAF Woodbridge is 3 miles away from me in Sutton (Rock Barracks now) and Bentwaters is 5 miles up the other road off the roundabout going towards Snape / Orford . Depending where exactly you are would say roughly in the middle :-)

Well things could improve shortly with the next medical review. That one will include another CT scan. The review & scan will determine whether I lose or keep my licenses. The consultant did tell me (pretty sure that he said it to cheer me up but then again...), that those who use the left hemisphere recover faster & fully than those who use the right hemisphere.

If true... hello road :-)

Fingers crossed for you Sirius thing go well at your next medical , I woul'nt get on another bike even if i was able , like i say to people when they ask ," i had me leg amputated , not a frontal lobotomy , oh just to carry on from seti i've even said that to the police around here ( when they try to "fish" info ;-) ).

Ah dear old Santa Pod. I was there the day that Harold Bull in Stripduster finished the 1/4 mile at just over 100mph in the mid 60's. It had never been done before. Then we had the first Funny Car over from the States, we'd never seen anything like it, especially the night time flame outs!

Do miss the flame and thunder " meet up Pod in November . Think that was before my time Chris but when i used to crew for my Friend " the vampire" used to run up there ( the jet cat Richard Hammond crashed @ Elvindon for Top Gear ) and fireforce 1 exploded

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sYyuT3Vu-Gc

And Fireforce 3 went 336.70 over the standing qtr mile ( Martin Hill got a bolloking for doing that coz it "annoyed" the top feulers)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bIQ2a2QPQpE

good days were had up there ;-) (specialy after the track had shutdown @ night , always was a "haze" over the pits ;-) even more the other side )

Coz of all the BBQ's firing up honestly ;-)

Yeah right :-) In the 1970's I had a Speedworth licence as an Official Mechanic, and we used to go banger racing at Wimbledon and Aldershot stadiums. Afterwards there were a few puffs there as well :-)) Not that I joined in but the others all did.

The 70's ? i wer'nt about till December '73 $t the 70's was more "lucy in the sky with diamonds" ;-)
They do banger racing at Foxhall stadium near me and Speedway there to , ain't been up there for years . banger mechanic all you need is a good set of hammers , from a ball pein to a sledge ;-) . And think Foxhall is Speedworth
