Strange the forums remain accessible over there. Makes me think that pings and tracert aren't going to tell the whole story ... |

Seems this site is also having loading issues on and off for past hour for me from the Northern part of Texas, USA... Lots of Time outs and Partial page loads. I have AT&T Uverse Internet 18Mb down / 2Mb up. Not having problems with other web sites. |

Both this BOINC website, and the SETI@Home project, are hosted on the campus of the University of California at Berkeley. For me, network tracert consistently ends up with variations of 19 et3-47.inr-311-ewdc.Berkeley.EDU [128.32.0.103] reports: Destination host unreachable. 19 et3-48.inr-311-ewdc.Berkeley.EDU [128.32.0.101] reports: Destination host unreachable. This suggests an intermittent fault somewhere inside the Berkeley campus network: both the campus network administration team, and our shared BOINC/SETI boffin (Matt Lebofsky) are aware of the problem, but they haven't tracked it down yet. |

Thanks for the update Richard. One problem is that the Berkeley Campus is, because of it's size, necessarily open and not gated. Therefore they have suffered from cable thefts in the past. Intermittent cable thefts? That's a new one on me. |

Well, possible progress somewhere. This site is now accessible to me for the first time since about 0300gmt. |

Just saying I got my eyes on all of you, for this minute I got through at least. The rest of the time, fend for yourselves. ;-) |

This has been going on for 2 days now. How hard can it be? It's a router that intermittently at random allows passage and not. The routing to the final servers works fine for a lot of people, there are just others including you and me, who have trouble and can't get here or at Seti at times. Because of the total randomness of the connection being dropped, and the serious amount of routers and servers in the UCB Campus network, it's very difficult to track which router is doing this exactly. Do know that UCB Campus is 1,200+ acres big, with loads of buildings, and umpteen miles of cables and connections. It could really be anything. Or, as Matt said it: This is a really hard problem to characterize, and thus it's hard to help campus solve, but it looks like there is a router (on campus and out of our control) acting funny. Or it may be an internal problem that is difficult to track down (as this weirdness is affecting random machines at random times in random ways). |

Matt Lebofsky, project administrator wrote: The problem persists, and as many of you already know there's a router on campus at the root of said problem. This is very similar to problems with had with our PAIX router where the solution was a memory upgrade. But know that my 15 minutes of being able to be here is now. Please cease the hostilities. All of them. If you want to fight, please do it elsewhere and certainly not on my birthday (which is all of today). Now pondering the question, do red-x reports even get through? |

Rest of Net access a ok :-( & it's down Got through once about 6 hours ago and was able to report about 300 and get another 300 to knibble on, though, so that's better than nothing. Amazing that the IT folks have been working a routing issue for 48 hrs and haven't found it, though. That type of performance tends to be career-limiting. |

Just proves Ageless correct, I have no problem atm. Jeez an intermittent issue like that would drive me crazy so feel sorry for the campus IT guys. |

Perhaps time to gather a list of seers, fortune-tellers and clairvoyants to help them out? Bones, tea-leaves, coffee grounds, tarot. |
