And BTW, calling me a young man would be like calling George W Bush "intellectual".

You cannot talk about my cousin that way!

Am I the only one that can't get the Seti web pages? The upload and download servers seem to still be functioning, but I can't get to the web site.

No....not just you. All web content appears to be dead in the water. I have sent an email to Eric, but dunno if he's in town or not. Today is a campus holiday, so nobody is scheduled to be in the lab. Presidents' Day.

I have seen one of my rigs get some new work, and the Cricket graphs are still maxxed out, so the actual project servers appear to still be functional.

Well, if the web site being down is the worst thing happening, I can't complain too much.

(Doesn't your name have two Ts in it?)

Yeah, two t's. I had to create an account here this morning, just woke up, and butched it. Don't seem to be able to find any place to edit it.

EDIT....
It just took a bit for the new account to be processed. There was no 'Your account' link showing before. There is now, and I was able to edit it.

Eric got my email and said he would look into the problem. Depends, I suppose on whether it can be patched up by remote or not.

EDIT...
After a few minutes, he replied.

Thinman is down hard, I sent an "if you're there reboot it to Matt,
Jeff, and Dan.

Oh no, oh no no no... Now I can't see my RAC rise up with my new HD7870. How would I ever recover from this?

LOL

LOL back.

As long as the other servers stay up, it'll be there rising and waiting for you.
If nobody makes a trip to the lab, it'll be probably after tomorrow's outage. As I mentioned, campus holiday.

I know Mark, but I want to see it Now, now, now now. Not tomorrow. Instant satisfaction is what I'm after. NOW, NOW :-)

I know what ya mean, buddy. I get a little anxious any time something is down that keeps me from my usual monitoring rounds.

A little birdy told me Eric is rather busy writing grant proposals. As they put food on the table and provide the $$$ to keep the doors open they are higher priority than a few hour trip into the lab to reboot a web server when the rest of the project is working fine.

It looks like the whole shebang is down. The web site doesn't respond and the crickets started a steep dive within the last half hour or so.

(Just as I was about to start a new Mystery Kitchen Tool thread in Cafe Seti.)

And of course right after I said that, the green crickets came back to life. The blue ones stopped their descent but did not recover. And the site is still down. I think thinman is dying (or has some other serious problem).

Looks like the web server is down and the upload server is too. I'm sure Eric tried a remote restart so we will have to wait a few hours until he gets in Thursday morning and has the cup of coffee.

It got down to single digits f here last night, and the crunchers aren't throwing off enough heat to keep the house warm. Had to fire up the furnace!!!!

Oh well, somebody should be in the lab in the next half hour or so, I should think.

SETI@home down, again. No, that can't happen.

I refuse to believe it. It must be all of my computers that have gone bad.

I will rebuild them now, and reinstall the OS, and all programs, including Boinc. I'm sure everything will work in a couple of days when I'm done. That will prove to me, that it was my computers that had gone bad, and not Seti@home.

Well...it should be a good exercise anyway. Hope it takes you through the weekend to get it done, what with the weekend being a scheduled outage due to power repairs at the lab.
