I have BOINC Manager (version 5.2.13) as a startup item in my Windows-XP SP2 "Start" folder, to launch automatically at the time I boot up my PC. About half of the time BOINC will start properly, while the remainder of the time it will fail to connect, change my preferences, and remain open/active constantly.

When BOINC fails in this way I must begin by MAXIMIZING the window, then resize the window, reset my preferences (to Run Based On Preferences & Connect Based On Preferences) and then EXIT BOINC Manager. When I manually re-launch BOINC Manager it will connect properly, and then minimize to the System Tray and run using my preferred configuration (During inactive periods, as my screen saver).

Why does this happen, and how can I correct the problem so that BOINC starts according to my (true) preferences?

Thanks,
S. Graham

Wait for Boinc 5.4.x to be released. That has it fixed.
