I installed the latest Fedora 17 package (7.0.29) on my x86_64 platform. The data, I copied from the Berkeley installation in my home folder to /var/lib/boinc. I did this because of an earlier problem in the Berkeley installation.

When I start up boincmgr, I get the message that "BOINC Manager couldn't connect to BOINC client", but when I close the message box, it does connect and I can see the tasks.

I'd rather not have do the extra mouse click before manoeuvring around the manager window. Also, I don't know yet if everything is working in the client and/or manager.

Could this be a race condition: The app not waiting for the connection attempt to time out? Or is it a setting that needs to be changed?

Any ideas?

Thanks,

Ernie D
