We need a Celebrity Endorser (Bill Clinton, Newt Gingrich, Lady Gaga) to get publicity for volunteer Grid computing and make it cool and trendy to participate. We need to send a message to everyone that turning your computer off or letting it sit idle is a waste. Also need to get people over their fear of getting viruses on their computer and help them to understand how grid computing can benefit them and their family. Would also help if all major Universities/ School districts would participate. Make all participators eligible for a raffle isn't a bad idea either.

Letting it sit idle may be a waste, but turning it off or letting it hibernate isn't. Not everyone can afford to run their computers 24/7. I sure can't, so mine sleep for most of the day and only during the night will one computer run BOINC, the others sleep on.

Despite natural gas prices going down, the energy bill here is going up, mostly due to our esteemed government adding more taxes and increasing the VAT (first from 19% to 21%, now there's talk it's going to 23%). So the more they add, the less I'll run my computers. Going green shouldn't cost you that much. :-)

World Community Grid and Progress Thru Processors should set up demonstration stations at busy places with lots of foot traffic. Examples: Major airports, shopping malls, college campuses, sports arenas, science museums etc......
