I want to upgrade my version of the BOINC software and do not want to loose any work in progress. On the website, I can only find new complete versions, not updates. When installing new complete software versions, I always first "remove" the existing software. How can I save my work in progress. Please be specific.

Thanks,

Since version 4.19 all you need do is install on top of the existing install. You can do a standard uninstall first if you wish. In either case the Boinc folder will not be effected and all work in progress should start again where it left off after the benchmark as automatically run. Just reinstall on top of it. Boinc makes very minor use of the Windows registry.

I've done overinstalls with every Boinc versions, official and alpha, without any problems.

Boinc V 7.4.36

By uninstalling BOINC through Windows Add/Remove programs (I assume you use Windows), you only uninstall BOINC. It will leave all the results and attachments intact.

So when you install the new version, do so to the same Boinc folder as before and you won't lose any work.
