high there

running win 7 64 bit, 24g ram, i7 cpu, and lots of hd room.
boinc manager 7.0.31

and running a lot of projests w there properties finally all smoothed out, ran for a few months. now got new video drivers (nvidea gtx580 x2) and even when cpu & gpu on run always, i can only get one gpu to crunch (yes cpu runs nicley to)

and i did make a cc-confige file from note pad and saved it to bionc data file.
as followes

<cc_config>
<options>
<use_all_gpus>1</use_all_gpus>
</options>
</cc_config>

saved it as cc_config.xml (encoding ansi from pulldown when saving)
restarted bionc, and then my computer and still only 1 will run.

can anyone please advies?, and if ive missed any pertant info please ask, kinda new to all this and am feeling over my head.

thanx
and have a nice day

What does the Boinc startup messages say? first 20 to 30 lines will do. (Ctrl+Shift+E to bring up the Event log)

saved it as cc_config.xml

Where did you save it? (It belongs into F:\programs not on c 2\bionic2\data file)

These show that the videocard drivers aren't loaded correctly. Uninstall and clean out the drivers, then reinstall them.

Adding a cc_config.xml file won't help here, as it just means that some file didn't install correctly with the drivers and that BOINC therefore won't be able to find it. Doing all kinds of things with BOINC won't fix that.

His GPUs are showing signs of the Wacky Nvidia GPU Memory Bug, Since his available GPU Memory is substantially different, only one GPU will be used:

16/09/2012 1:46:17 PM | | NVIDIA GPU 0: GeForce GTX 580 (driver version 306.23, CUDA version 5.0, compute capability 2.0, 3072MB, 8383134MB available, 1581 GFLOPS peak)
16/09/2012 1:46:17 PM | | NVIDIA GPU 1 (not used): GeForce GTX 580 (driver version 306.23, CUDA version 5.0, compute capability 2.0, 3072MB, 2713MB available, 1581 GFLOPS peak)
16/09/2012 1:46:17 PM | | OpenCL: NVIDIA GPU 0: GeForce GTX 580 (driver version 306.23, device version OpenCL 1.1 CUDA, 3072MB, 8383134MB available)
16/09/2012 1:46:17 PM | | OpenCL: NVIDIA GPU 1 (not used): GeForce GTX 580 (driver version 306.23, device version OpenCL 1.1 CUDA, 3072MB, 2713MB available)

As this post shows why:

As Richard Haselgrove already pointed out... (I didn't scroll down the whole way before I answered ;))

1/23/2012 12:35:00 PM | | NVIDIA GPU 0 (not used): GeForce GTX 570 (driver version 290.53, CUDA version 4.10, compute capability 2.0, 1280MB, 1118MB available, 1530 GFLOPS peak)
1/23/2012 12:35:00 PM | | NVIDIA GPU 1: GeForce GT 520 (driver version 290.53, CUDA version 4.10, compute capability 2.1, 1024MB, 979MB available, 156 GFLOPS peak)

The Compute Capability of the 520 is higher than the one for the 570, which makes the 520 the better GPU.

The source code for coproc_detect.cpp says:
// return 1/-1/0 if device 1 is more/less/same capable than device 2.
// factors (decreasing priority):
// - compute capability
// - software version
// - available memory
// - speed

So, it's correctly chosen.

This value is read from the nvcuda.dll file that came with your drivers, it isn't something that BOINC invents.

He could upgrade to Boinc 7.0.36, that has a partial fix.

True... I wasn't awake yet and rushing to get out to work when I posted that.
Still, aren't there the weirdest of problems with the 306.xx versions of drivers again?

??? I fill it into Google and immediately find http://www.guru3d.com/content-page/guru3d-driver-sweeper.html for the older version and http://www.techspot.com/downloads/4266-driver-sweeper.html for the newer.

Links in FAQ adjusted.

Boinc 7.0.36 is basically an Alpha build at the moment, so doesn't show on the downloads yet, But the links have been posted in the BOINC 7 Change Log and news thread,

One thing to note is that the internal flops figure for the GPU has been increased by 10 times, because of this existing GPU work will all be on the edge of erroring out with maximum time exceeded,
so your Cache should be run down of all GPU work prior to upgrading to Boinc 7.0.33 or later, you can do this by eithier setting NNT at all your GPU projects, or unsetting Use Nvidia GPU or Use ATI GPU at all your GPU projects,
Once you're run your GPU cache down, upgraded to Boinc 7.0.36, you can then re-enabled work fetch again,

I got 3 NVIDIA GPUs and only 1 GPU is running at a time.
This only happens when I updated NVIDIA drivers to 306.23 but it ran all 3 GPUs when I had the NVIDIA drivers down to 301.42.
I blame NVIDIA.

My Specs below.

Please post your Boinc startup messages, the first 20 to 30 lines will do.
