As it is generally known, compiling the Boinc client with processor optimizations can have negative effects on result scores (since the work is not done by the client itself). For those of you familiar with the Gentoo Linux OS, you know that one of the operating system's features is that all of its applications can be compiled during installation (rather than using precompiled binaries). This often includes optimization, at the user's disgression. With this in mind, I've filed a Gentoo bug to track the potential problem compiling the Boinc client in an optimized Gentoo environment can pose to user scores. The bug is located here: https://bugs.gentoo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=126436 |
