Hello Boinc-Friends!

I' am using the Boinc-Client to participate in projects like einstein@home and world community grid.

I have the problem that windows explorer kills itself while running the client. Otherwise my Win7 64x rig is very reliable and the explorer crashes do only occur if I run Boinc.

Other people do seem to have the same problem:

Does anyone know this problem and can help?

Greetings from Germany,

A simple fix would be to update windows and have the latest service pack installed, microsoft released a update for explorer for boinc making it crash first update then check if its not fixed than there is nothing else I can do without experimenting with it myself

I'm facing the same problem. Sometimes, I even get a blue screen.

I just downloaded the latest version 7.0.28 because according to the VersionHistory, it contains some bug fixes that might help. Particularly the one about "status code 1" might fix this because the blue screens always showed some message about "Status Code 0x000001".

I will report back if I get the feeling that it is fixed.

Blue screens of Death show STOP errors, not status codes.
If your computer shows STOP Error 0x000001, you may want to check out http://support.microsoft.com/kb/935936.

Else, please check Windows Event Viewer (Start->Administrative Tools->Event Viewer) for the correct error message. Or write it down next time you see it.

Oh. Ok. I mixed that up.

If your computer shows STOP Error 0x000001, you may want to check out http://support.microsoft.com/kb/935936.

This problems seems to be related to Windows Vista only but I got Windows 7.

Else, please check Windows Event Viewer (Start->Administrative Tools->Event Viewer) for the correct error message. Or write it down next time you see it.

Thanks for the tip. In the event view I saw that the error code is actually 0x0000001e.

Independently, the problem with the explorer crashes persists in version 7.0.28. I filed a bug report: http://boinc.berkeley.edu/trac/ticket/1197

Investigated the problem a bit more and now I got the impression that it is related to the graphics card.
