Pardon my ignorance and lack of specific instructions, but all the Wiki info about building your own client seems to be directed towards a local (At Berkeley) user. I've tried everything, using TVN and such and can't map Berkeley's structure using Map Network Drive as windows doesn't like it.

Soo, since it is GNU and since it's often suggested one build their OWN if they don't like it and since the three main developers seem way overloaded, I thought that my 28 years of programming might allow me to do something on my own... AS SUGGESTED.

The ONE problem I have is downloading ALL THE CORRECT source code to build my own version. There doesn't seem to be a way other than to MANUALLY DOWNLOAD THOUSANDS of files one at a time which is impossible. (using their http link)

Can somebody ZIP UP EVERYTHING for say version 7.0.25 or 7.0.26 AS IT IS RELEASED so this humble semi-retired nerd can have a whack at it? Of course, first goal would be to get a box setup to compile it as it is... before making changes... so it would be nice to know exactly what platform was used, revisions and such to duplicate the act.

Thanks!

You been at http://boinc.berkeley.edu/trac/wiki/CompileClient ?

Yes, tried everything I could to DL the code, command line and everything. Seems TVN has trouble connecting to the http source center...

I'm still trying...

You said you're on Windows?
Then you download and install something like TortoiseSVN.
After installation you may be required to reboot, do so.

Next you make a map on your drive, call it e.g. BOINC_Source.
Then you right click on that map, do SVN Checkout...

In the window that opens, add http://boinc.berkeley.edu/svn/trunk/boinc
(or http://boinc.berkeley.edu/svn/branches/boinc_core_release_7_0a for 7.0 specifically) as URL (no need for the svn co addition, just the URL), check the path to the directory, Checkout depth: Full recursive, click HEAD revision. Click OK.

TortoiseSVN will now download the source code.

Well, tried that TVN and it didn't want to work for some reason... BUT, Silk SVN is working perfectly and it's downloading now!!!!

I'm getting the entire 7.0.26 branch to play with...

WOOT! Maybe I'll have something in a year, who knows?

I'm not fool enough to think I can dive into this and do any good in a matter of days... it's a VERY complicated piece of software and doubtless will take 1000 hours to get a handle on...

I'm ecstatic! (where have I heard that before??)

LOL!

It requires a reboot.

Umm, how about 6 reboots and no joy? But Silk SVN worked perfectly... I'm good to go!
