Just one example from Mersenne@home, but I'm seeing the same thing with other projects too: <core_client_version>7.0.24</core_client_version> <![CDATA[ <message> process exited with code 193 (0xc1, -63) </message> <stderr_txt> Stack trace (11 frames): /usr/bin/boinc(boinc_catch_signal+0x65)[0x48f675] /lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libc.so.6(+0x364c0)[0x7fbca84094c0] /lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libc.so.6(__strcat_chk+0x39)[0x7fbca84d9db9] /usr/bin/boinc[0x412a34] /usr/bin/boinc[0x412b00] /usr/bin/boinc[0x43163d] /usr/bin/boinc[0x431adb] /usr/bin/boinc[0x41a728] /usr/bin/boinc[0x4712a4] /lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libc.so.6(__libc_start_main+0xed)[0x7fbca83f476d] /usr/bin/boinc[0x406a65] </stderr_txt> ]]> Looks like libc.so.6 is the culprit, but I don't know what to do about it. I do have the latest version of libc6 installed. Does anyone know if 7.0.25 solves this issue? |

I am getting computation errors on: ABC@home Cosmology@home Constellation Leiden Classical DistributedDataMining climate prediction Docking@home SETI@home Collatz Conjecture DistrRTgen Also some have limited functions and some will process up to 50%. I am using the BOINC Manager and don't use the command line so I wouldn't know where to start if ___ instructs me to enter command line items/commands. Also I am using Ubuntu 12.04 64-bit system on a Core 2 Duo. Try to update to 7.0.25 first, although I don't think that makes a difference since there was only a change for the Mac for 7.0.25 and the developers needed a uniform number as the release client. I'll be waiting for Trog Dog to pass by, hope he has a better answer, and hopefully he asks both of you to do all those ldd commands. ;-) In the mean time I will inform the developers, on a possible problem. |

I am getting computation errors on: Add a report from NumberFields@home Project administrator says their Linux app is statically linked, so feels it's a client problem. |

Then we still have at least 4 hours to go before the Linux developer can give me an answer. Sorry, but apparently they also need sleep. Weird. ;-) |

My list of failing projects includes: ABC Ciencia Constellation Docking EDGeS eOn Mersenne Optima SAT and I can confirm that the statically linked NumberFields app does work fine. Curiously, my machine differs with Kiska's in that Leiden Classical is also working for me. On my machine, AlmereGrid and Correlizer are also working. If people experiencing this problem want to try to continue to crunch pending a solution to the problem... Thanks, Ageless. :) |

Based on your title you've installed the boinc package from the ubuntu repositories - these errors need to be reported back to ubuntu. https://help.ubuntu.com/community/ReportingBugs Edit: to explain further a quick google shows that this error code generally relates to an "illegal instruction" - as such - presuming you were previously crunching successfully with a prior ubuntu boinc version and nothing else on your system has changed then the problem lies in the compilation that ubuntu are distributing. Possible causes - ABI incompatibilty, wrong compiler switch, incorrect dependency CIC1=CC=C(C2=N[C@@H](CC(OC(C)(C)C)=O)C3=NN=C(C)N3C4=C2C(C)=C(C)S4)C=C1 |

Well thank god its going to be fixed when will this version 7.0.26 be released? Also I just had a fresh install of Ubuntu from fresh repositories and a fresh install of BOINC and still experiencing these errors |

7.0.26 is going to be release today, the developer assured me. However, this is the Berkeley version that'll be released, not the one through the package manager. Whenever that's going to be released, only the package maintainers know. The Berkeley installer installs in a different way than the one from repositories. See here for the differences. |

problem solved. Go and download version 6.12.33 from: http://packages.ubuntu.com/oneiric/boinc Then select which package is your's the names are as following: oneiric = 11.10 natty = 11.04 Maverick = 10.10 Lucid = 10.04 Karmic = 9.10 Jaunty = 9.04 Intrepid = 8.10 Hardy = 8.04 These versions can be mixed and matched: oneiric can substitute for precise, etc |

Any feedback from the OP's as to whether 7.0.26 resolves this issue? CIC1=CC=C(C2=N[C@@H](CC(OC(C)(C)C)=O)C3=NN=C(C)N3C4=C2C(C)=C(C)S4)C=C1 |
