AMD FX-4100 Quad core processor, 3600 Mhz, 4 cores, 4 logical processors

AMD Radeon HD 6670 (GPU)
16 GB of virtual memory
8 GB of Ram

What do I need to upgrade and how could I do it to turn my desktop into a beast with an appetite for BOINC workunits like the event horizon of a blackhole?

If you want to build ANY CPU intensive BOINC machine, stay away from Bulldozer...

The PII X6 Thubans outperform them by miles as does the I5-2500K/I7-2600K CPU's. In fact, for multicore FPU performance, the FX series perform about 1/2 speed even with high clocks.

Here is a link to an article regarding building a 2 GPU machine. I figured it would cost about $850 or so to build depending on what you already have laying around. However, I figured it would cost about $51 a month to run it non-stop as well!

Good luck!
