Im writing you gentlemen in hopes you will give me assistance on how to remove whats left of this program from my machine. I'm not sure what you guys do here with the Boinc program or what IT does other than has made me have to wipe & recover my machine 3Xz in the last 2 weeks. Im sure that theres good things goin on here & you guys are breaking new ground every day but this program has got me and my ONCE NEW Sony Vaio at our end. This program has taken over this machine twice already & made it run so slow running process after process that it was eating my hard drive up. When it runs processes & programs daily its hard to even get online.

Im just a diesel truck mechanic by trade ... Im no software developer, rocket scientist, or brain surgeon ... I get on the internet for fun & leisure ... something it hasnt been in a month now cuz im fightin this thing every day. The computers only 8 months old & worked very well up until a month or so ago. I noticed a name (virtualapp/didilogical) keep coming up in folders with special permissions and soon enough it bagan taking over MY document/music & picture folders, leaving my access denied to entry. Iv e found scattered programs over the internet that was supposed to remove it but its always left some part of it ... a zip file from a man at UC cal at berkley was supposed to take it all out via command line but I only got a half-way job outta it.
This is what it said:

NET LOCALUSER/GROUP DELETE or somethin like that but was also denied access. I got the format correct but evidently even being an administrator on my own machines not enough either.

I think you'll find that it is Sony that installs this version of BOINC, and that if you do not want to use it, you can opt-out of it in some way. In any way, you should be able to uninstall it through 'Uninstall a program'.

See http://boinc.berkeley.edu/dev/forum_thread.php?id=6128 for the old news bit. If however you have complaints about the uninstaller, you will need to take it up with Sony. It's their uninstaller logic that is not working on your system. It's a different one than we use, or can help you with.

Some further comments, also from the developers.

I noticed a name (virtualapp/didilogical) keep coming up in folders with special permissions and soon enough it bagan taking over MY document/music & picture folders, leaving my access denied to entry.

This program isn't a part of BOINC, so it may seem you have an infection as well. Make sure your anti-virus program is up-to-date and use it to scan the system, thoroughly. This can take several hours, depending on the hard drive size and usage.

Also, check for spyware. Use Superantispyware, available from http://www.superantispyware.com/ to check the system.

a zip file from a man at UC cal at berkley was supposed to take it all out via command line but I only got a half-way job outta it.

Did you get that program from this FAQ? Did you also try the other steps in that FAQ?

The cleaner app (that I wrote) needs administrative rights to be used, and be run from a command line run by the administrator. (Start->All programs->Accessories->Right click on "Command prompt"->choose "Run as administrator")
It won't magically fix things if they aren't in the place that the program expects them to be in. I don't know if Sony changed (registry) paths, but it's possible it won't work. It is even possible it won't work on anyone's system.

I found another post on a MB that suggested I try thru CMD another way :
NET LOCALUSER/GROUP DELETE or somethin like that but was also denied access.

This also requires being the administrator and running the commands through the administrator command prompt.

By the way, for completeness, it's first:
net user boinc_master /delete
and
net user boinc_project /delete

Followed by:
net localgroup boinc_admins /delete
net localgroup boinc_projects /delete
and
net locagroup boinc_users /delete

Has the warranty on that computer expired? If not then take it back to the place you bought it from and tell them it doesn't work and you either want your money back or you want it fixed. It's messed up due to something Sony put on it so I would think it's a manufacturing defect they are responsible for.

As a matter of fact it IS still under warranty. I gotta yr outta Sony and an ext. warranty from the retailer so I guess thats what imma do, I jus didnt see this turnin N2 the big ugly monster that its become. I trusted Sony products not to do a bone-head move like this but like alotta things I guess its like Santa Claus, the missle shield and stripperz with a heart of gold.

Well I know this to be fact: this usernamez the one that signs in on my generic credentails(which I now cannot access even as admin cuz the program has shut me outta it too), schedules & runs the programs that are doin the damage under names like boinc_projects, boinc_master, TrustedInstaller, CREATOROWNER,Administrators, SYSTEM therez literally 30+ names that this pro uses ... Hell it'z even either copied my logon info n made an alias outta that or jus taken over that username too. Look, I get it that you dont WANNA believe anything can go wrong with yer baby but aint it jus possible that someone that someone that knowz a lil somethin abt this program mighta jus went "ROUGE" on ya? Therez kidz out there every day that write programz for the sole purpose of destroyin ppls machines ... jus for meanness maybe cuz Mama sat'em in the corner too long or wuteva.

Also, check for spyware. Use Superantispyware, available from http://www.superantispyware.com/ to check the system.

Ive done the whole virus/antispyware/malware thing too ... Used the SuperAntiSpyware,Malwarebytez CCcleaner religiously ... nothing.

No actually I got the zip file from your original post on ANOTHER MB ... follwed it as well as the post you speak of to the letter and most of itz not worked bcuz of the whole "access denied" thing ... Look I get the whole thing abt running programs "as an administrator" but on my machine therez noone else to sign in AS but me so it'd be hard not to run things, execute programs as being an administrator but jus to be on the safe side I right-click everything I open concerning this and run it "as an administrator"

This also requires being the administrator and running the commands through the administrator command prompt.

Ya ... signed in as an admin, right clicked the run cmd n ran as admin n retyped cmds just as you put them n guess what it said ...

ACCESS DENIED

imagine that ... who'da thunk it.
