Message 41456 - Posted: 3 Dec 2011, 8:10:57 UTC

I've participated in the original Seti@home project starting in August 2000. I signed up and created a new account for Boinc on May 24, 2005 but for whatever reasons I drifted away from the project like millions of other crunchers. I caught up with one of my old team mates and decided to comeback to Boinc again so forgetting about the previous account I made another on 2-27-2009. I used the same username both times. The older account has 68 units of credit and is just sitting there, my newer account is the one that is being incremented daily. How do I combine these to accounts without being penalized with the older account's ranking places? Thanks.

BOINC accounts cannot be merged. You will have to choose one or the other to run with. The Seti Classic WU count can only be joined with a BOINC account once. The user name isn't the unique identifier, but the email address is. E.g., there can be thousands of users named Hank, but they'll all use their own email address to sign up with.

OK well I do have my old seti@home units accounted for because I recently noticed you could start crunching for the project again so I added it to my other machine and is incrementing WU(s) just fine. My concern is I have two instances of my username when searched in Boincstats.com: one containing dead units with the May 2005 sign up date and the active account dated 2-27-2009. The 2005 account had Einstein@home attached to it, that's what accounts for the 68 units not seti@home. Are you saying these two accounts cannot be reconciled in any way? I cannot revert to the older sign up date of May 24 2005 or can I just delete the account altogether? And thanks again for the swift reply.

I see. So the May 24, 2005 account is for the most part abandoned in the system unless I decide to start attaching projects to it or like "Dagorath" suggests and just detach all projects and change the ID, email address and password. Well that tears it I admit defeat and will take his advice. BTW reconcile means to be accepting and resigned to something not desired. I wanted both accounts to be combined but it's not possible. Thanks for the information and advice.

OK, so I want to change the "dead" BAM account that has 68 old Einstein#home credits from 2005 signup. I can log into my BAM account and modify my profile preferencds: username, email and password it but I cannot find where to modify the dead account. If I do a search on boincstats.com with my username two instances come up with two different boinc cross project indentifiers:

A.) This one is associated with the active account. 8583c97596499a3cc6b7de7f22ef73fb

B.) This one is connected to the dead account
ad9648f9801ca26aeadc13be4d3a644d. It also has a user ID but I don't know if the active account has one. How do I change the username, email and pwd with the dead account? Thanks.

Why do you ask about a BAM! account at the BOINC forum? ;-)

BOINCstats/BAM! development is totally independent of BOINC development!

Why ask here? We don't make BAM or are in any way affiliated with it.

You'd have to wait for someone who by chance has that specific knowledge to give you the answer, while when you ask at the BAM forums, there'd be so many more people with knowledge available to answer you.

My bad! Applied post to wrong forum, I fully intended to get answers from BAM forum. Cheers
