Seti boards appear to be down

Seti Beta is saying:
Unable to connect to database - please try again laterError: 2003Can't connect to MySQL server on 'carolyn' (113)

So they may be down for a while.

Hi Ageless,
I hope you're okay.
I published a post about it but in the forum "Questions and problems". I think I should not have to publish it here. So, I moderate.
Do you have more information about this crash ?
THX.

I don't work at Berkeley, so no, I don't have more information. Something went wrong with their mySQL, without which there's no database, thus no accounts or forums. Doesn't matter that much, it'll come back.

In the mean time, may I request once again that people post without their signature attached to this thread? When you answer, or edit, you can uncheck the "Add my signature to this reply" option to lose the signature for just that post. No, I can't edit your posts to take them out either.

I can upload BRP4 and the Gamma Ray work. Looks like they have one working upload server at the moment.

Can't get E@H website. The S6 Lineveto WU fail to upload. Also can't report work.

They seemed to go into a normal maintenance shutdown around 16:00 UTC, but other pages haven't been reachable since then. They had problems with the webserver a few weeks ago, I guess they're taking the opportunity for some extra work while the rest of the system is dormant.

From the SETI@home homepage:
Power Outage
Due to a planned day long power outage, which starts early on Wednesday, all servers will be down from the beginning of Tuesday's normal outage until early on Thursday.

I expect this website will also go down as it is in the same building as SETI@Home. I don't know if they will take it down on tuesday like SETI or if it will be down for a shorter period as they don't have project maintenance scheduled for tuesday.

Being in the same building isn't the thing there. If the power goes off in the Seti server cabinet, the BOINC domain will continue to be on line, due to its server being in another part of the building.

But to be sure, I've asked David for a reaction (did that earlier already, still waiting for an answer).

Looks like it may be later on Thursday than the Seti folks hoped. When they do get things going, I suspect the traffic jam will be quite intense for a while as well.

WCG if offline due to a Raid filesystem getting corrupted. Estimated 12-18 hours to repair. They are taking a snapshot of the very large Raid several TB of data before starting repairs. Then they need to repair the FS. Then they need to check that all new work in the system is not corrupted/missing files from when the problem started. Then they will do a slow restart to check the repairs.
All BOINC backend servers ar currently reporting as project down for maintenance and if you can connect you get a Missing HTTP file error.
Official post more in the Boic help forum on WCG posted to panicked users
