I'm running the latest BOINC manager on a machine running Win7 x64 with an ATI FirePro 3D V4800. The latest ATI Catalyst Control Center and ATI APP SDK is installed.

PrimeGrid doesn't care and will give this machine ATI units without complaint. However, Milkyway@home won't send out ATI units and generates a notice that it only supports double precision GPUs. Last time I checked the V4800 was able to do double precision processing.

Is there something I'm missing?

The Firepro 3D 4800 only does single precision. It's not on the list of being Brook+/CAL capable.

It is however OpenCL capable.

Hmmm, I could've sworn I read somewhere that it did double precision. I guess the error makes sense if it only does single.

Maybe it was on wikipedia which lists the the v4800 at 124gflops double precision. (A page I've used before to base purchasing decisions on, won't be anymore, but I've been unable to find anything that lists this sort of info on AMDs site)
CIC1=CC=C(C2=N[C@@H](CC(OC(C)(C)C)=O)C3=NN=C(C)N3C4=C2C(C)=C(C)S4)C=C1

There's a very easy check on these pages: bus width.
On single precision cards, the bus width is 32, 64 or 128. Double precision cards have a bus width of 256 bits.

The v4800 shows as 128 bits.
