Milkyway remains off line. It appears that the home page is up and running, though VERY slow access.

One can't get to the server status page, nor can one upload or download tasks.

So this is, for MW, a fairly extended outage. With the very short work queues supported by MW, anything longer than a half hour or so gets noticed, anything longer than an hour insures that GPU work is gone.

Fortunately with the GPU's requirements that MW has (double precision), any other GPU project that is running supports the hardware needed for MW.

No problem -- it appears that it may be offline for the weekend. Like I noted earlier, with the excessively short queues that MW has, I figure all folks running the GPU applications for MW have other BOINC projects that are now grabbing cycles until MW returns.

Ah -- I see, I guess they are looking for Roto Rooter for databases then -- and still -- they are still offline over there.

At 09:19 UTC MW is still not reachable. Even the main page doesn't come up.
Pitty as I have cheap power in the weekend to run my watt-slurping rigs.

Six hours later and still no joy. I suspect it will be into the next work week before all the Kings horses and all the Kings men are able to put MW back together again.

In the interim, it seems that all the other ATI and Cuda projects are running just fine.

Travis posted a note on the web site which was up temporarily earlier today that they were working on the database to clear problems which were caused by the crash prior to the weekend. He was, like you, optimistic. And there certainly was a change -- now (1PM PDT) the entire site is offline. Not at all sure what got broken, but it does look the Humpty Dumpty egg suffered severed fall crackage.

Just got home...recent post from Travis:

As seems par for the course, if I leave for the weekend and don't have internet access milkyway likes to crash and go into panic mode. It looks like we a crash while some process had the database tables locked. This caused everything to freeze and back up. I'm waiting for some queries to finish up in the database, then we should be able to turn everything back on. Things might be a bit slow until then.

Thanks for hanging in there while the site was down
