I'm still running 4.19 and I figure it's about time I updated. (Gee, y'think?) I'm running on a Win-XP-Pro system. I've been running only SETI@home but would like to add the World Community Grid.

Is there anything I should watch for when updating? Do I have to uninstall the current version before I install the new one? Or can I just run the 5.2.13 file and it will take care of everything?

Sorry if this is explained somewhere. I couldn't find anything specifically about this in the Wiki or elsewhere. Thanks for your help.

4.19 MUST be uninstalled first. Use Windows add/remove.

Thanks Les! I had a feeling there might be a problem if I didn't.

When updating it's not necessary to remove the older version of the client program - at least, it hasn't been on any of my computers. Please don't misunderstand, removing/uninstalling the older version is not wrong, it's just another way of getting to the same updated result ...

Just to clarify. V4.19 and older must be uninstalled before installing a newer versions of Boinc. The installer changed at that point and now allow for overlay installs on v4.20 and later.

Thanks for your replies. I uninstalled first and then installed the update. I'm having a few problems but I'll start a new thread for it. Thanks for all your help with this!
