huh? How did this happen? And as I can't find an option to change this status, how does it unsuspend? Windows 7-64 SP1. Boinc Manager V: 6.12.26 (x64), wxWidgets V: 2.8.10 |

I have never seen that one before either. The only one I can think of is that it has to do with something happening to a driver. Do you have a GPU? Has Windows by chance reset the driver (for whatever reason possible) and is it now running the Windows driver, instead of the driver you installed? You can test this by doing a reboot of the system, as that's the only way in Windows to reset broken drivers. |

Answer from the developers: This condition is met when the OS goes to sleep or hibernates. It should be in this state only briefly (until the OS suspends). If it's in this state longer, that's a bug. Check what your web-preferences are for: Suspend work while computer is on battery power? Suspend work while computer is in use? Suspend GPU work while computer is in use? 'In use' means mouse/keyboard activity in last X minutes Suspend work if no mouse/keyboard activity in last X minutes Or the same ones in your local preferences, if you use those. And of course, what your power preferences are in Windows 7. |

Just to add to the developers' answer: this bug was happening on pretty large range of versions, I assume 6.10.37/38 - 6.12.26, with conditions:

Thank you for you quick helpful replies. If I understand everything correctly, I have come to the conclusion that I might, *might* have found a bug. My current Boinc Manager - Preferences: Computing allowed While computer is on batteries - not selected While computer is in use - selected Use GPU while computer is in use - not selected When I boot my machine Boinc tasks run correctly. The problem only occurs after awaking from Sleep - reboot and everything is fine again. My graphics card is listed as Nvidia Geforce 9800 GT. I've not found an option in Windows to show any details regarding the presence or absence of a GPU. But as I don't have a problem with the games I play - I'm guessing there is one of some kind. I appreciate that the developer might not consider this issue as a high priority, but I do hate having to reboot several times a day. If I can help with more detailed information, please feel free to ask. |

P.S. I've just found that logging off and on again will reset Boinc. Reboot not required. Currently my tooltip for Boinc in my Sys-Tray shows: Computing is enabled. GPU computing is suspended - computer is in use. Network enabled. |

You let your system go to sleep when you don't use it? After how many minutes? What is your BOINC preference then for "Suspend work if no mouse/keyboard activity in last X minutes" ? |

You let your system go to sleep when you don't use it? Here we are testing 6.12.33 and that option still can only be found on the website device location preferences. --//-- |

Thank you for you quick helpful replies. If I understand everything correctly, I have come to the conclusion that I might, *might* have found a bug. Do you run any Non-Computation-Intensive tasks (QCN, FreeHAL, WUProp)? Could you try 6.12.33 afterwards? Peter |

You let your system go to sleep when you don't use it? Sleep after 2 hours, or after an hour when it's sent to sleep by MediaMonkey. I logged on to my computing preference for the Rosetta project. My "Suspend work if no mouse/keyboard activity in last X minutes" is set to "--- minutes" (no numeric value is displayed).
"Non-Computation-Intensive tasks" is not a phrase I've seen before, but I am not running QCN, FreeHAL, or WUProp. I'm guessing these are programs that have some kind of complex background functionality. The only thing like that would be my anti-virus software. I am installing ver 6.12.33 and will let you know what happens after a few tests. |

Sleep after 2 hours, or after an hour when it's sent to sleep by MediaMonkey. BOINC can't determine what sends your computer to sleep, so you'll just have to test. Set the value for "Suspend work if no mouse/keyboard activity in last X minutes" to 59 or 119. This preference is used to suspend BOINC in a civilized way, so it can write its state to disk, before the computer's put to sleep. I set it at 1 minute before your sleep methods, but you must test which value suits you best. Are you only running Rosetta? Are you allowing BOINC to do work while the computer is in use? |

I've over-installed v6.12.33 and the program happily restarts upon awaking. I did not make any setting changes, either to the program directly or via any website. Thanks for all your suggestions. |
