If you don't like the new manager please give BoincTasks a try - unfortunately you can only install it on a windows machine though, but it can still be used to manage mac and linux hosts from that windows machine.

There's probably going to be a bit of a learning curve/adjustment period for you to get familiar with it, but messages are there in a tab, notices are there in a tab, and the colours are customisable, as are grid lines (both vertical and horizontal).

I've been a long time BoincView user because I run multiple boxes but it's no longer being developed, BoincTasks is a great replacement for BV, and it can be used to manage 1 or many boxes.

Give it a try, you may be pleasantly surprised.

Never say NEVER! It is already making friendship with Wine.

Thank you Pepo

I wonder what it would take to make a minimal virtual machine image (one just big enough to run BT) then linux and mac users could both be served, or does mac have an equivalent of wine?

I have no idea for both of the questions.

Wine is not a virtual machine, it runs the code directly.
BoincTasks runs pretty quick on Ubuntu.
For Mac there is a Wine version, as (don't tell) Mac is Linux, sort of.

I believe Trog Dog meant creating some minimal virtual machine with some Linux distro (to be run on Mac), with Wine+BT inside...

You've meant, "Both of them are Unix (at least sort of)"? ;-)
