Hello everyone, I hope I'm not disturbing: I've been told that your community likes tools like our research tool (although we do things very different from BOINC). We are working on ways to help home users diagnose problems in their home networks. The first step is to better understand the configuration of these networks. We developed a tool called HomeNet Profiler that collects information about the home network such as the device configuration, the quality of the wireless, and Internet access performance. When you run HomeNet Profiler, you will immediately have access to a report. HomeNet Profiler runs on most operating systems and it doesn't install anything in your computer. Unlike BOINC software, HomeNet Profiler is a one-shot tool, we do a snapshot of the home and that's enough (running this periodically may be too intrusive). When you are at home, could you please run HomeNet Profiler from http://cmon.lip6.fr/hnp/ ? We would really appreciate your help and your feedback, especially as a community, if you have any idea about how/where to get volunteers. If you want to check who we are, to make sure this is not a spam, our team is: * Lucas Di Cioccio (UPMC Sorbonne Universités / Technicolor) [ http://www.thlab.net/~dicioccio ] * Renata Teixeira (CNRS / UPMC Sorbonne Universités) [ http://www-rp.lip6.fr/~teixeira/ ] * Catherine Rosenberg (University of Waterloo) [ https://ece.uwaterloo.ca/~cath/ ] Thanks a lot ps: I'll keep an eye on this thread to answer you questions, otherwise there is an email link at the bottom of each of our webpages. |
