I new to this and am running BOINC on my glorious P4 prescott 3.2 with hyperthreading enabled its taking me about 3 hours to complete a seti WU (two done at same time cause of HT) i see people with CPU's not much better than mine with WU done in 40 mins or better is there something wrong here??? any advice?

The 40 min. crunchers are most probably using CPU specific optimized clients. If your interested in these, a search of Seti's Number Crunching forum will reveal several threads on the subject.
