Hi I recently Brought a new computer and reinstalled Boinc and tried to run but unfortuntly I keep getting the msg no work availible for process. I think it may have been because i forgot to detach the last project i was running before i reinstalled my os. Im wondering how to get boinc working again

Want to give any clue which operating system you run or what project you're attached to? That might be nice.

What's the 'Re' in Re-Installed? If you had a BOINC on that computer or drive and it has not been run for a while, then installing BOINC again, or just start it again using the same data_dir, there were possibly the old files. Then BOINC will be whirring along for a few hours clocking uptime (on_frac e.g.), and then finally realises that "Hello, the hearts been beating... need some norishment".

Personally, I think this is baffling behavior, and think the very latest clients will fetch work no matter what, long as there's an active project attached that does have constant work to retrieve... 6.10.58? For sure, attaching a new project always invokes the infamous 'fetch 1 second...', and then you'll end up with a cache full if you don't watch it.

2 Euro cents.

?. I said i reinstalled my os to a 64 bit os. So the bionic was not on the drive. Everything was reinstalled. Basically it took like 8 hours to start accepting new work.

Did you check at rosetta if they actually had work to send out at that time?

The secret will have been in the
It keeps telling me that no work availible to process.

i.e. the client was asking for work and none available just as it printed :D

Shaun, putting a different OS on does not mean your disk was empty. Generally on W7/Vista with a service install both 32 and 64 bit use the C:\ProgramData\BOINC dir... that's at least what it did here when "reinstalling" W7-64 from Vista-32... just continued with the old data.
