Yeah I have an e-mail in with the admin asking for an update here or by e-mail to me which I will post here asking what progress has been made in the last week since his last post. Adam is usually good about getting back to me or posting here after I ask him to.

I don't know exactly something happened in the server room. Either the AC broke and burned up a server or something like that. I got the impression it was something related to the server support equipment that died and damaged a server or made imposable to run any servers in the same room. I was told they were waiting on parts and techs for repairs.

2nd part just heard back from Adam by e-mail
Hi Bernd,

We're still working on it. Our technical staff is burdened and hence a little slow on the matter. I'm hoping to have things back by the end of the week, though.

thanks,
Adam

Ah thanks. Not good. Hope they get up and running soon. I went to the general UMD website but not a clue there.

Something's happening at Lattice I think as now I'm getting a Red Hat web page, not theirs, but it's a start.

Before it would just time out.

So it's a good sign.

The Seti upload server is disabled. You won't be able to upload to Seti.

Climate has been down for a while...

The project development/administrative team are aware of this, and are trying to fine-tune the servers to support the very heavy data traffic that the project requires. From a report this morning (Saturday):

Most of the CPDN servers are set to work their little socks off, and they just can't cope.

Realistically, it'll probably be Monday before the servers are re-enabled.

Additionally, the same (very small) team are trying urgently to eradicate the last few bugs from a new application that the scientific researchers are anxious to get into full production. Other issues, such as credit exports, are taking a bit of a back seat to that.

OK -- the Aqua outage was short-lived -- planned maintenance.

Dnet has been offline for the weekend -- not sure when they will be back online there..

Or maybe not -- looks like there is a project specific problem now for Aqua.

Dnet remains offline

ClimatePrediction.net News and Announcements

The next phase of the RAPIT/RAPID models are now being auto-generated from the completed models from the first phase.

Note 1: They're being grabbed as soon as they appear, and the one hour back off still applies to prevent a few computers from hogging all of the work.
Note 2: Attempts to use the Update button to speed things up will have the opposite effect - the timer will be reset to 1 hour (+/-), and you'll be back to square one.

More of the Regional models will be available Real Soon Now, for people who prefer shorter models.

AQUA's database is all messed up - "no account with the e-mail address (mine) exists" and then on the home page, "No database selected." So yes, project-specific...but what could that be? I've not seen this before.

Both Dnet and Aqua remain offline. For Dnet this is day 3 of it being offline, for Aqua this begins day two of being offline.

I've not seen any comment or explanation or forecast for either project returning to life.

It is quite possible that the folks running Aqua haven't seen this problem before either -- and so are very much in either flat out scamble mode, or (I hope not) 'mechanics shrug' mode. One can hope they are working on it and at the very least will be able to restore from a recent backup if the database is munged beyond all repair.

There's some movement over at Lattice. The website is slowly being rebuilt by the looks of it. Shouldn't be much longer.
