Message 37412 - Posted: 6 Apr 2011, 21:11:37 UTC - in response to Message 37408.

Dnetc remains unreachable -- working deep into day two of them being totally offline.

MW is still in elevator mode -- sometimes up, sometimes down, and having real problems keeping ATI GPU's fed when they are running

The folks over at Dnetc were able to correct problems (both hardware and software) after about 1 day and a half last week, but seem to have encountered either a repeat of the hardware problem or something equally showstopping. As a result, the project has been totally offline for the past 30 hours. Like a number of the smaller projects, when they go offline, that includes even the home page. Hopefully they will get things resolved and in a way that doesn't leave the project in fragile mode.

Dnetc is down because they have extremely serious problem with the server. Based on what I know, I can only say that the downtime will be rather long.

Thanks for that follow up information. I was beginning to suspect something like that. Glad that they got the word out somehow.

CPDN main project

Jonathan and Andy have posted on the climateprediction.net website:

Database upgrade: planned system outage
Submitted by cpdn on Tue, 12/04/2011 - 10:26am in Project news
The CPDN database will be taken off-line for a software upgrade at 14:00 GMT on Wednesday 13 April 2011.

It is estimated that the database will remain off-line until approximately 16:00 GMT on Friday 15 April 2011, though it is possible that this will be extended if there are unforeseen complications.

The CPDN-Boinc forum will be unavailable during the entire outage but the independent forum will remain open. We will not be able to open our accounts. Models should be able to upload their files normally but we will not be able to fetch new models. Credits will be delayed.

We do not need to take any action.

WUProp has an unannounced outage since this morning 0500 UTC.
Anyone any news about it, i.e. anyone from AF reading here?

SETI seems to have gone offline. I can't load any pages and the Cricket graphs are showing no traffic. I hope something really bad has not happened like last years AC failure.

SETI@Home

Their workunit storage server has broken down, again:

Gowron failed a drive and is hung. It will probably be 3-4 days to re-sync the RAID array, so no work until then.

But the rest of the project, including the message boards, is up at the moment, and it still seems to be possible to upload and report completed results.

SETI@Home

Doesn't seem to be as serious as they feared. Work is flowing again, but as usual slowly while the userbase catches up from the outage.

Storage Server Issues
The server that stores our workunits crashed last night, but is recovering now. We hope to be fully back on line in a couple hours.

The following projects seem to have disappeared for the last week. Androic, DCNET@HOME, and Enigma@home. Hopefully they are not dead. Can not find out any info about them.

CPDN main project

Unfortunately the work to upgrade and improve the performance of the database is taking longer than planned. The current outage is likely to continue until 16: 00 GMT on Monday 18 April 2011.

Any more current update?

@idahofisherman: In case you are still looking for info on these projects, there are two threads in this forum over at BOINCstats.

May we please ask that if you post, to do so without adding your signature? With thanks.

To do so, when you make a post in this thread, uncheck the "Add my signature to this reply" and then make your post. Your signature will still be enabled on other posts, just not this one. You can also edit your post during an hour and take the signature out.

We ask that you post without a signature to keep the purpose of this thread clear: News about project outages, not about how many credits you have or what team you want us to join. It's not that difficult to do. So please...

As posted in the independent forum previously linked (that's an official CPDN website, just independent of the BOINC software that's being upgraded at the moment):

The database maintenance that has been ongoing for the last few days is likely to continue to over run until Thursday evening (21 April 2011).

Apologies for the inconvenience.

My apologies -- no inappropriate boast or recruitment was intended. I typically sort by "newest first" and, in this case, did not read the entire thread before posting...<insert embarrassed smiley here>

Looks like the Rosetta project and the MalariaControl.net project have joined the group of AWOL projects.
