I would like to see the ability to name the machine profiles rather than being stuck with 'Default' 'Home' 'School' and 'Work.' In my case all my crunchers are at home so if I need to create different profiles I have to try and remember which machines I assigned to which profiles. It would be much more helpful if I could name my profiles 'PPC Mac' 'Intel Mac' and 'x86-64 Linux.' |

Then it's possibly easier to control them through an Account Manager and in that case, BAM! offers what you look for. BAM! is a 3rd party endeavor. The BOINC developers aren't responsible for changes at BAM! |

It's been a while now but when I used BAM in the past it used the very same device profiles, or venues, that BOINC uses. I just thought that since not everyone groups their crunchers based on where they are located it might be easier to group machines based on their CPU or OS since those factors have more impact on what projects can be run and how you want to allocate resources than location does. Allowing the user to name the profiles gives them more flexibility. |
