http://eon.ices.utexas.edu/eon2/ eOn: Long Timescale Dynamics is an interesting and fairly new project in Chemistry. I just signed on a couple days ago. I had a wee rough start due to some misunderstandings. But, now, its rocking and rolling along, 1500 credits in just a couple of days. Here is a blurb from their main page: "A common problem in theoretical chemistry, condensed matter physics and materials science is the calculation of the time evolution of an atomic scale system where, for example, chemical reactions and/or diffusion occur. Generally the events of interest are quite rare (many orders of magnitude slower than the vibrational movements of the atoms), and therefore direct simulations, tracking every movement of the atoms, would take thousands of years of computer calculations on the fastest present day computer before a single event of interest can be expected to occur, hence the name eon, which is an indefinitely long period of time." Note: in BOINC Manager, Tasks, there is as of yet no progress reading. Rest assured, the WU's are going. Mostly. You may encounter a small number of errors, but not enough to trouble you. Or me. Also, on the forum, right now no avatars or signatures. http://sciencesprings.wordpress.com http://facebook.com/sciencesprings |
