Rosetta is back up again. From the Website: Dec 9, 2010 Today's heros are Keith and Darwin, our systems administrators and hardware architects. Yesterday, our main filesystem crashed hard. There were warning lights flashing behind every disk on the SAN and it looked pretty grim. Thankfully, Keith and Darwin were able to pinpoint the problem to two redundant laser modules for the fiber optic loops (it was amazing and unlucky that both failed). The laser modules have since been replaced and the filesystem is back up. We'll be starting up the project again shortly. Thanks for your patience. |

Does anyone know what happened to rectilinear crossing numbers? I had been crunching numbers for quite awhile and now they seem to have just disappeared |

Any news on QuantumFIRE? It's been almost 2 months since the site went down, and a result I didn't get to upload is a month overdue. :( |

Here I've forgot to explain what's the story. Shortly: RCN was cracked. Since there's no competent administrator (project/forum admin denies any competence) it was decided to shut down the project. It still works somehow (I can get WUs spontanously) but it's online only at office hours -- when admin can watch servers. Pity. |

SETI had a hiccup this weekend. Results can upload but new WU downloads are not working. |

MilkyWay appears to be down. Can't upload results, can't reach the web site. |

CPDN main project 1. Upload server kraken crashed yesterday. Milo has now restarted it and it is running. Kraken takes uploaded zip files from FAMOUS models so computers running this may have had files stuck in Transfers. They should be able to upload now or soon. 2. The CPDN database server needs to be replaced by a new machine. This cannot be done yet. The database server cannot always manage its workload with the following results: *When we try to look at the CPDN-Boinc forum or our CPDN accounts or the server status page, we often see the error message 'too many connections'. * Some model downloads are failing. Almost all computers are, however, able to download enough models successfully to keep busy. Remember that we can always attach to one of the many other excellent Boinc projects to fetch extra work. * Some trickle uploads (which go to the database server) are delayed with Boinc manager messages like 15/12/2010 09:53:04 climateprediction.net Scheduler request failed: HTTP gateway timeout 15/12/2010 10:00:17 Project communication failed: attempting access to reference site 15/12/2010 10:00:17 climateprediction.net Scheduler request failed: Couldn't connect to server 15/12/2010 10:00:18 Internet access OK - project servers may be temporarily down. These messages are not a reason to worry. * Sometimes there are delays in reporting a completed model to the database. So sometimes a replacement model cannot be downloaded immediately when it is needed. Most people can avoid this problem and be sure their computer has plenty of CPDN work by increasing the computer's work buffer: Boinc manager Advanced view > Advanced > Preferences > Network usage tab > Edit the Additional work buffer, increasing the number of days > Click OK * Sometimes the daily CPDN credit script cannot run or is delayed because it cannot access the data it needs. The delayed credits will not be lost. This server database access problem is a nuisance but it should not prevent us from processing our models sucessfully. |

CPDN main project Milo has replaced the old kraken upload server with a new one. FAMOUS zip files should now upload much more reliably. |

Rosetta appears to be having problems. The web site and forums are still up. However I can't upload finished work and the server status page shows several servers as no running. I have not seen any formal announcements from the project. |

There's no clue when close and when would happen. Looks like it's up to local admins. |

Aqua started having problems early this morning -- looks like they ran out of disk space. At a guess, they won't be able to resolve this for a couple of days. |

Looks like the whole of the Climate Prediction project is down, on all servers that we can reach. Or can't reach at this time. ;-) |

The stats page is available -- but uploads still are not processing. Note, while SETI has its planned half-week outage, Climate does a planned 6 to 8 hour daily outage. The current upload problem is going on during the 2/3 to 3/4 of a day non-outage cycle. Like SETI, unplanned outages don't affect the planned outages, in both cases, unplanned outages simply reduce to available project uptime further. Looks like the whole of the Climate Prediction project is down, on all servers that we can reach. Or can't reach at this time. ;-) |

Milkyway went down about 5 hours ago -- all of it, no access to the website. Hadn't seen any posts here about it, but that isn't all that unusual I suppose. |

MW remains MIA. I seem to recall that they had a similar problem last year at RPI during the semester break. I've seen no information here regarding this. Does anyone perhaps have a link to where one might find news on project outages? Milkyway went down about 5 hours ago -- all of it, no access to the website. |

I am having problems reporting trickle up messages for CPDN. I am having problems with getting the CPDN website also. Anyone else having problems? I have around 4 days of trickle up messages pending. |

Yes, problems here as well. They have been struggling for a while with resource and staffing issues. I am having problems reporting trickle up messages for CPDN. I am having problems with getting the CPDN website also. Anyone else having problems? I have around 4 days of trickle up messages pending. |
