Most usually this is caused by drivers. Since it happens at the time that your GPU is detected, I suspect it's something in its drivers.

But then, BOINC 6.10.18 doesn't have code to work with a Fermi card correctly, so you either have to go with the latest beta version (6.10.53 at this time) or not use the 480 GTX.

Do you have two GPUs in that machine? An ATI and an Nvidia? As this is a crash in your ATI drivers.

If you do not have an ATI card (anymore), you need to clean up the drivers with something like Driver Cleaner.

Installed the .53 just same error no :(

I just driver cleaned, guess it failed, yes this machine was with a 4870x2 before upgrade, will look for something better than one from guru3d

You first uninstall the drivers through Add/Remove programs (or whatever that's called these days in Windows 7 ;-)), then you reboot into Safe mode and run Driver Cleaner (the one I pointed to), and use it to remove all ATI references.

Then you reboot into normal mode and install the drivers for the new videocard.

Thx problem solved, 2 cleaner and still failed , manually deleted the ati files under system32 and voila !
