Hi! LHC began high energy collisions March, 30. I keep feeling rather disappointed that NO job be send to LHC@home community, although terabytes of data are generated. Is there a security issue? |

It's the huge amount of data, and the consequent huge bandwidth needed. It was made known from the beginning, (several years ago), that LHC@home would only be used for the design of the magnets, and that the collision data would be processed by a dedicated GRID. |

Thank You Les Bayliss! According to LHC website, that will be about 15000 terabyte of data generated yearly. I understand that such a data flow should travel on dedicated network and be stored on dedicated processing centers (the so-called LCG). Nevertheless, I am somewhat disappointed that not even the smallest piece of data be processed through the BOINC project for the benefit of specialized research entities allowed to access the LCG. It seems to me that there is a missing link, for the time being. |
