I updated my client a few days ago to allow einstein to run, kept getting messages it would not run on my older client. Just happened to get and install 6.10.43 which has been running without any problems. Do I need to revert back to the 6.10.18 version which is currently available? Am running on vista/64b with cuda support (nvidia).

No, you don't have to downgrade. Not unless you happen upon the problem where your GPU doesn't have enough memory on board and BOINC keeps downloading work for it anyway.
