Hello. I am running the latest build of x64 BOINC (6.10.32) and have encountered an interesting problem. Every time I try to check the box for Use GPU while Computer is in Use, it does not stick and GPUs are left idle until 3 minutes have elapsed. I notice the only way of getting around this is doing repair installs, but I think that is quite annoying to do every time my computer turns on. Could it be due to my SLI setup? I could certainly like my graphics cards to crunch numbers while I am doing mundane office work or surfing the web. Running Win 7 x64 Pro and 2x8800 gts 320mb sli. Any help in this matter will be greatly appreciated. |

You sure that the global_prefs_override.xml file is written into your BOINC Data directory? Is that directory in a place where BOINC is allowed to write to it? Can you check that the global_prefs_override.xml file isn't read-only? |

Thanks for the post. Yes, both files (global_prefs_override.xml and global_prefs.xml) exist in the Data directory and both can be written to (i.e. the read-only check box in file properties is not checked). EDIT: Upon further investigation, I tried opening the override file and Windows gave me an access denied error. I then proceeded to delete the old file and replace it with another one and now preferences work fine. Thanks for your assistance. :D |
