I need to reinstall Windows XP completely. Boinc is installed with default settings.
How can I continue tasks my computer is working on currently whithout trowing away the work it has already done (the work files it is running took hundreds of hours)? Especially: where do I find the work files to make a copy?

If you restart BOINC (or reboot), there's a line in the Messages tab of BOINC manager where the data directory is mentioned.

That's the directory you must back up, including all subdirectories. It may be hidden by windows, so you have to set the windows explorer to show hidden files.

After the windows reinstall, restore the backup and then install BOINC (the same version as before or a newer one), pointing the installer to the restored data directory, if it's no longer in the default place.

Gundolf
