(I am posting it here, since my email problems to the developer's list are still not solved) I was testing this prior to the big outage at Seti@Home. I did the test to get a good log for one of the messages in the Wiki, when I stumbled upon a weird bug. I've got Boinc installed on a separate partition, 6GB big. The only program running from it is Boinc, with all the science appas for the projects I am attached to. I've still got 5.5GB free on that drive, which CC 4.72 recognizes correctly: 18/08/2005 22:53:30||Disk Inventory: Disk total - 6.02 GB, Disk available - 5.50 GB But now comes the thing. I changed my preferences repeatedly, quitting Boinc at times, always updating it after I set the prefs. Prefs are set through Seti@Home. All projects but for Seti@Home suspended. Use no more than 10 GB disk space Leave at least 7 GB disk space free Use no more than 75% of total disk space Running Boinc with this should give an error message saying I don't have enough space on my harddrive, since I don't have a 10GB drive/partition, nor is there 7GB free, or to keep free on a 6GB drive. Use no more than 5 GB disk space Leave at least 100 GB disk space free Use no more than 75% of total disk space Then I went completely contradictory. On a harddrive of 6GB, use no more than 5 GB would be okay, but to leave 100 GB free should again induce an error message. Use no more than 6 GB disk space Leave at least 7 GB disk space free Use no more than 0.00001% of total disk space 18/08/2005 23:04:22|SETI@home|Message from server: Not sending work - last RPC too recent: 83 sec 18/08/2005 23:04:22||General prefs: from SETI@home (last modified 2005-08-18 23:06:32) 18/08/2005 23:04:22||General prefs: no separate prefs for 126526; using your defaults Still no error message? Use no more than 6 GB disk space Leave at least 7 GB disk space free Use no more than 0.000000000000000000000000000000000000000001% of total disk space You can guess it already, can't you? ;) 18/08/2005 23:05:44|SETI@home|General preferences have been updated 18/08/2005 23:05:44|SETI@home|Message from server: Not sending work - last RPC too recent: 83 sec 18/08/2005 23:05:44||General prefs: from SETI@home (last modified 2005-08-18 23:07:36) 18/08/2005 23:05:45||General prefs: no separate prefs for 126526; using your defaults So when do I get an error message that my drive space is not enough, when CC4.72 never even checks it against the preferences? It won't even give a message when I restart Boinc. Unless I have to wait for it to try to get work? |
