I need to reload my PC and I would like to keep my bonic settings and most importantly the work I have done up to this point. What steps are necessary to save my data so I can restore it to my PC once I have finished reloading it. Thanks |

The safest and easiest method is to copy the entire BOINC folder, then when the time comes reinstall BOINC into that folder. The only catch is that if you copy onto CD/DVD, the files will become read only - you will need to make sure that write permissions are reset when you copy back to the hard drive. |

Andrew, do you mean that one has to first install the BOINC client so that it is registered correctly with the OS, and then copy the contains of the saved folder over writing the new installation that was created? |

Andrew, do you mean that one has to first install the BOINC client so that it is registered correctly with the OS, and then copy the contains of the saved folder over writing the new installation that was created? Just put the Boinc Folder where you want it and point the installer to it. Default Windows install location is C:\\Program Files\\BOINC. Boinc makes minimal use of the registry so there is no need to worry about it. Projects and WU should continue were they left off. Boinc V 7.4.36 Win7 i5 3.33G 4GB NVidia 470 |
