OK.. BOINC is statistics driven. This is a no-brainer.

However, as a program creator, one must be extremely careful in what stats to include inside the statistics tab, lest it become bloat.

The following things have come to my attention as things that might have been overlooked.

1. (I've mentioned this before) The graphs are not "geographically sound". It appears that the spacing between contacts to the server is not relative to the amount of time. So, while a centimeter to the right might indicate 1 day at one point, it may indicate 100 days the very next centimeter, and 42 days the next. I find that very VERY VERY few people watch stats by how often their computer contacts the BOINC server. It would be more appropriate to make the points on the graphs space themselves appropriately in accordance with the amount of time in between them. This should be a VERY simple fix.

2. It would be nice to include a button on the left for overall RANK. RAC can fluctuate wildly, and TC only goes up. Pretty boring. Rank, would be a good indicator of how you are performing compared to others without having to show 5000 other stats windows. Perhaps 2 RANK buttons, one for team rank, and one for overall rank. (after all, there are 2 buttons each for RAC, and TC..)

That something you like better? In different colours as well. Try 5.3.6 to see it for yourself.

(Took them out as images, was a bit too big ;))

It's an alpha version. It may not be stable. But you can get it from here (direct link). Windows only, I'm afraid.

Uninstall your old BOINC version before you install this one. If you leave your BOINC folder alone, no work should go lost.

Ahhh, yes.. that's EXACTLY what I've been getting at for months.. lol :) That's pretty.

Now all we need is the rank progression graph.

The statistics page drives me nuts -- a thin yellow line on a light gray background?! Who came up with that colour scheme?!

I have to tilt my monitor to see it clearly. Alas, I use a Mac, so I cannot switch to some other software.

This seems like SUCH a simple thing to change by the powers that be.

Works fine on my screen, and I've yet to hear any other complaints about it. Sorry, Nikolas, no accounting for taste. :-(

Regards,

Michael

The key to good use of colour in charts is contrast. BLACK on light gray would be way more legible. I can barely see that yellow line, and I'm not colour blind -- that I know of.

Seeing as how that is my only complain about Boinc, I guess it works pretty well. :-)

I'm using the Boinc client for the Mac. All my other colours are just peachy, so I'm assumning it's the program and not the colour card. Red being yellow and blue being gray would be a pretty radical difference in colour.

I would gladly kill a SETI alien to have a red line!

You must have V 5.3.x. That is the colors in that alpha test program.

I agree with Nikolaus. On my display the yellow line on a gray background is almost illegible. I'm using an UWXGA LCD display on a Dell Inspiron 9400.

Could the line color be made a preference/option?

The upcoming Boinc 5.4.x has multiple colours in the graphics, multiple options in the graphics etc.
