Seti sites load, albeit slowly.

It looks like Einstein@Home took another dive off line.

Seems OK from here - I was just reading Mike Hewson's message 103142.

Yeah, 8 minutes after I posted that they were back. But not even http://www.downforeveryoneorjustme.com/ found Einstein at the time I posted that.

NFS@Home

NFS@Home will be down from Friday evening, March 26, until Monday morning, March 29. There is major electrical work being performed over the weekend, so the building power will be out.

I notice that Seti has vanished off the Earth again, both back-end and forums.
I don't see any earthquakes having happened, so they've probably not paid their electricity bill. ;-)

Vader was picking on Ptolemy and everyone had left but Eric. He tried to reboot Vader a couple of times but no go so he pulled the plug on Vader. Things should go back to normal when the guys get in this morning.

Post on the front page of SETI saying the database crashed. Nothing running until it is fixed. Mork crashed.

News From Seti:

Eric Korpela wrote:
You may have noticed that our user database machine "mork" crashed, bringing down absolutely everything. It has recovered and it claims everything is fine. But we're going to make sure things are in good shape before we start distributing work again. Work will probably start flowing sometime tomorrow.

Till then, the forums are still around for your enjoyment.

We have recovered from the computer crash over the weekend, but there may be continued difficulty reaching our servers due to current high levels of traffic. Also a warning: On Thursday evening (California time) there will be a lab-wide power outage for about 4-6 hours for building-wide repairs. Our web site may remain up, but all services and data transfers will be off during this time.

Repeat Seti News:

There will be a planned power outage today from 18:00 to 22:00 PDT. All of our servers will be unavailable during that time.

Do know, that since the BOINC servers live in the same building, that they will also be affected!

P.S: for the time technically challenged:
Thursday 18:00h PDT = Friday 01:00h UTC
Thursday 22:00h PDT = Friday 05:00h UTC

The Seti upload server has been disabled since Friday. Today I asked Eric Korpela what was wrong with it. Here's what he answered me:

The http daemon keeps dieing in a way that it won't restart (due to a hung process). I've been trying to figure out the problem.

Eric has fixed the problem with the Seti upload server. Do know that it is now being hammered severely, so you can still have problems uploading until the amount of data coming in goes down a bit.

The Einstein project seems to be missing all of a sudden. We're trying to find out what happened.

Answer from Bernd Machenschalk:
Looks like the filesystem of the server ran full. David is working on it.

Einstein seems to have returned from its own private black hole.

MilkyWay seems to be down.
No access to the site, either.
