I just installed the latest Boinc version 6.10.18 on both my computers that run Boinc, but now no project wants to start running anymore on both of them. They just sit there with status "Ready to start" and "Waiting to run".
The only thing I can find is the message:
"18/11/2009 17:11:01 Preferences limit # CPUs to 0".
I checked the local and remote preferences, but my remote preferences say I allow 16 processors to be used (I only have 1 processor computers) and my remote preferences say Boinc has permission to use 100% of all processors.
I don't have any idea were to look anymore and help is appreciated.

You possibly have a "cc_config.xml" file in your data directory, left over from previous experiments.

And it possibly has the line

<ncpus>0</ncpus>

in it. That used to be the default for 'ignore me, use everything available'. Now zero means zero: use -1 (minus 1) for the default 'use everything' setting.

That was the problem indeed. They're both up and running again.

Don't mention it. Just happened to be passing at the critical moment, and it was one I recognised.

When you're struck by lightning it's not important to know about the meteorological circumstances that created it in the first place. It's the effect that matters ;)
