I loaded BOINC and set up SETI and Einstein accounts. Now I have the SETI Classic icon in the systemn tray and I don't seem to have access through the BOINC manager.

Was I supposed to remove the SETI program before I started the BOINC?

Windows XP SP2.

Thanks.

Technically your supposed to but you can keep the program on your computer as long as you don't have it set up to load at startup as either a service or through the start up menu. Some keep the Classic program on their computer as a backup but both Classic and BOINC can't be running at the same time.

If you don't care about losing the Classic program installation, just delete it otherwise set it so it doesn't load in at start up and BOINC then should work properly. If you switch back to Classic, you need to make sure BOINC doesn't load at startup too.

I have mine set for manual loading on both and have no problems with WinXP SP2. {edit}One or the other, not both {/edit}

For whatever reason, both versions of SETI are running right now. I think I'll disable the Classic and see what happens.

Thanks

classic runs at a higher priority than boinc and related projects, therefore classic will take almost all the processor time and leave none for boinc.
