I'd like to create a new team for an internet forum, then move my credits to it from my old team, (which I am the founder of). Can I do this, or will I have to start new credit with the new team? |

Except for at ClimatePredction.Net, on all projects when you move to another team or start a new one, you start with zero credits at the new team. Past credits done will stay at the old team. But the credits do stay with your account all the time. This was done to discourage team-hopping, or as was done in Seti Classic, for one person with lots of work done to hold the team virtually hostage and get things done his way, or he'd move away to elsewhere where they'd jump to his needs if they could get that much work done added to their total. |

Thanks Ageless. I feared it would be that. I can understand it, but then it's not good for those who've been running projects for several years, who might have stopped crunching then came back, but now may simply want to start a new team because the old team is defunct or whatever. Things change! Well it's not all bad. I'll "lose" my SETI and Rosetta credits, but keep my CPDN credits. Question: for CPDN, do I just go to "climateprediction.net preferences" in my acct. there, then "Administer" > "Edit team info " and change "Team name"? Surely it's not that easy?!! |

..but now may simply want to start a new team because the old team is defunct or whatever. Things change! If you're the team founder, why not rename the team? Question: for CPDN, do I just go to "climateprediction.net preferences" in my acct. there, then "Administer" > "Edit team info " and change "Team name"? Why not do that on every project? Renaming the team won't lose you any credits. Making a new one or moving to another team will. |

OK, well that's what I was wondering. So I can just rename the team under each project, and everything stays the same? Any members to the changed team name will be credited under that, and not the old name? This would be good news! Forgive the ignorance, but I didn't use BOINC much in the past since it was a PITA really. I got fed up and switched to F@H! |
